Becky Wise, 76

We lost our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Rebecca (Becky) Corinne Wise, age 76, Sunday, February 12th, 2023. She was surrounded by her family in her home on Fisher Lake, where she spent most of her life.

She was born September 26, 1946, in Three Rivers, the daughter of Charles H. Fosdick Jr. and Jessie L. (Ryder) Fosdick. She graduated from Three Rivers High School in 1964, where she was an energetic cheerleader and homecoming queen. Upon graduation, she attended Ferris State University in the School of Cosmetology.

In 1968, she married James Earl Wise, her “one and only” since they met when they were just twelve years old on Fisher Lake. They water skied in many water festivals, performing pyramids at Memory Isle during the Three Rivers Water Carnival. Becky was also told that she was the first girl on Fisher Lake to drive a pontoon boat. Even after they hung up their skis and started their family, Jim and Becky continued to spend countless hours on the lake, swimming, cruising, and enjoying the sunset.

Becky stayed home with her children when they were young and utilized her cosmetology skills to keep all of her friends and family looking stylish. Becky loved spending time with her children and adored everything her grandchildren participated in. You could always find her in the bleachers cheering them on, and informing the refs if they missed a call. She was an avid Michigan State fan and a fabulous cook. We’re still trying to recreate her perfect American Beauty red cake and Libby’s favorite mashed potatoes.

Becky attended First Presbyterian Church of Three Rivers/Centreville of which she was a founding member. Her grandchildren fondly remember fighting over who got to sit next to her in church, compromising with one on each side (to separate them). She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, warm, welcoming smile and generous hospitality. Her ability to connect with you and make you feel special was evident in all she did, especially when she was entertaining guests at Fisher Lake or greeting early risers at HealthTRAC.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Jim Wise; daughter Kelly (Steve) Judsen; son James “Chip” (Kathy) Wise; grandchildren Libby and Aidan Judsen and Nathan and Katelyn Wise; brother Bill (Maureen) Fosdick; sister-in-law Susan Fosdick, many nieces and nephews and friends she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Charles (Bub) Fosdick III.

The family would like to thank the many friends who have given their time during the last few months of Becky’s life as well as Three Rivers Health and Hospice Care.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Donations in Becky’s honor may be directed to Three Rivers Health and Hospice Care or First Presbyterian Church of Three Rivers/Centreville. Envelopes are available at and may be sent to Hohner Funeral Home.

  1. I am so sorry for your family’s loss. My name is Denise (Gadnis) Kastner. Ellen Fredericksen and I started United Cleaning Services in the 1980’s. Becky was an important part of our success. She and I worked together many, many times cracking up laughing. Even though we lost touch after the business split and then ended, I have always had a fond spot in my heart for her and our shenanigans. I have not stopped thinking about her since I found out. She was truly a gem. God bless all of you during this difficult time.

  2. I was saddened to hear of Becky’s passing. I have many fond memories of her. We were TRHS cheerleaders together and both enjoyed our lives on Fisher Lake. Condolences to Jim and all of her family and friends.

The Fishers Lake “family” will miss this lively member. Anyone who knew Becky doesn’t even need to read the details here because to know Becky was to love her. I don’t believe she ever said a negative comment about anyone or anything . . . She was always the most positive person I knew. The world needs more Beckys, not fewer, and it is a sadder place without her. Never ask for whom the bells tolls; “it tolls for thee.”

  4. So sorry to hear about Becky. My condolences go out to the Wise family. Becky was a sort of second mom to me back in High School. She was always a blast to be around.
