Jean Marie “Nana” Wright, age 71, of Sturgis, passed away Monday afternoon, February 13, 2023 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
She was born April 2, 1951 in Battle Creek, daughter of the late John and Wanda (McAmis) Kelly.
Jean resided in Sturgis for the past 4 years coming from Centreville, where she lived for 20 years and her early life was spent in Three Rivers, where she was a graduate of Three Rivers High School with the class of 1969.
In November of 1992 she married Gregory S. Wright in Three Rivers.
She was a member of the Wasepi Mennonite Chapel in Centreville.
Jean was proud to have served her country in the U.S. Navy earning the rank of E-3 Hospital Corpsman.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, yardwork, adopting needy critters and was happiest when she could share and help others.
Jean is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 30 years: Gregory; daughter: Dawn (Brian) Quirin of Centreville; son-in-law: Jeffrey P. Bell of Sturgis; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sisters: Peggy (Floyd) Miller of Coldwater and Joyce “Colleen” Kelly of Indianapolis, Indiana and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter: Catherine Marie “Cathi” Bell.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating and honoring the life of Jean M. “Nana” Wright will be held at 2:00 Saturday afternoon, Feb. 18th, at the Bridges Community Church, 27570 Marvin Road, Centreville. A continued time of fellowship and the sharing of a meal will follow the memorial service.
