Volunteers are being sought for the Sturgis foam recycling events this year.
Collection dates for the year are March 4, May 6, Aug. 5 and Nov. 4, at the department of public services, 805 N. Centerville Road.
The collections take place 9 a.m. to noon.
Clean, used polystyrene foam – including post-consumer foam cups and takeout containers, egg cartons, ice chests, rinsed meat trays, packing peanuts and any other foam with the No. 6 recycling symbol – are accepted.
Volunteers greet patrons, determine the suitability of the foam for recycling and help unload vehicles, if necessary.
Prospective helpers may sign up for one of two shifts: 9 to 10:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. to noon. Those interested in assisting may contact Julie Burkey at jburkey@sturgismi.gov or by phone at 659-7223.
