Richard H. Brammer, age 81, of Sturgis, passed away early Thursday morning, February 23, 2023 at the Sparrow House in Sturgis.
He was born August 17, 1941 in Willimantic, Connecticut.
Richard was a longtime Sturgis resident. His early life was spent in Florida and California.
Richard took great pride in serving his country in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1965 during the Vietnam War earning the rank of Fire Control Technician Striker Third Class.
He was a member of Neuman-Wenzel Post #73 American Legion and Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW, where he served as a member of the Honor Guard for many years. During his years in the Navy, he traveled around the world three times.
He is survived by many friends including his special lifelong friends: Cynthia (Chuck) Zerbe of Sturgis, Vicky Perry of Sturgis, and Zach Metzger, also of Sturgis.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 on Tuesday, March 2nd at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis where full military honors will be conferred at 7:00 by Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
