Vicksburg man sentenced in child pornography case

A 47-year-old Vicksburg man was sentenced to federal prison Wednesday on child pornography-related charges.

Virgil Knowles III was sentenced to 25 years in a federal prison. In addition, Knowles will be subject to 10 years of supervised release.

Knowles in October pled guilty to sexual exploitation of a child and distribution of child pornography.

Knowles and his girlfriend, Samantha Batts, were arrested at his home in July. He was accused of sending sexual images of a 10-year-old child to an undercover FBI agent, and told investigators that Batts helped him use a child for sexual purposes, according to court documents.

Batts was sentenced in January and will serve more than 16 years on a charge of sexual exploitation of a child.
