Brenda Miller, 63

Brenda J. Miller of Bristol, Indiana passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at home, surrounded by family. Brenda was born on December 24, 1959 in Lansing to Robert G. and Ruthie Bates. Brenda married the love of her life Charles N. “Chuck” Miller, III on March 9, 1996 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Elkhart.

Brenda graduated from White Pigeon High School, class of 1978. She was the owner of Sew Creative Threads in Elkhart where she enjoyed teaching sewing and quilting classes. She and her husband are members of Augustana Lutheran Church. Brenda was a volunteer for Soup of Success with Church Community Services. Brenda volunteered at White Pigeon Elementary School. She is a member of Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 27 years, Chuck Miller, III; their children Amy Watson of White Pigeon, Amber (Zach) Miller of Toledo, Julie (Mike) Knepper of Bristol, and Sarah (Brian) O’Connor of Elkhart; her mom Ruthie (LaVern) Pelcher of Shipshewana; Brenda’s grandchildren Chloe (Dakota) Ryall, Kain Watson, Sadie Knepper, Olivia Knepper, Kallen O’Connor, Jillian O’Conner, Braden Watson, Keldan, Koen, and Keaton Capp, Kady Miller, Derek Miller and Tabitha Miller; her brothers Robert (Dawn) A. Bates Allen of Middlebury, and Thomas R. Bates of Shipshewana. Brenda was preceded in death by her dad, Robert “Bob” George Bates on October 1, 2022.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday March 31 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd, Elkhart. Funeral services will be Saturday April 1, 2023 at 11 am at Augustana Lutheran Church, 1133 Kilbourn Street, Elkhart, where visitation will be one hour before funeral services at the church.
