Bud Lash, 84

Harold Wayne “Bud” Lash, age 84, of Vicksburg, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born September 19, 1938 in Vicksburg, the son of Leonard and Eugenia (Mohney) Lash, and fell in love with farming from an early age.

Bud graduated from Vicksburg High School with the Class of 1956 and worked for 20 years as a machinist at the Johnson Corporation, but his best times were spent on the farm – growing corn, beans, and wheat.

He attended Center Park United Methodist Church and Newberg Norton Bible Church, at both of which he served as a lay speaker and taught Sunday School. He loved teaching and read his Bible daily.

On June 6, 1958, he married Loretta “Lori” Thompson, whom he met at Center Park. The couple enjoyed gardening and growing things, especially tomatoes.

Bud could best be described as “content.” He loved being home, loved his farm, and loved his family. Hunting was another favorite pastime.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Lori Lash; daughter, Sheri Lynn (Tony) Goode of Kalamazoo; son, Brent (Marcia) Lash of Vicksburg; grandchildren, Domonique (Aubrey), Kelsey (Cheyenne), Breanna (Matthew), and Sierra; great-grandchildren, Amirah, Akaiah, Alorna, Aunaleia, Adorien, and Wayne; sisters, Shirley Fenwick of Three Rivers and Janice Hampton of Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David; and grandson, CPL Jordan.

Private family interment will be held at Mint Cemetery.

Arrangements by Hohner Funeral Home.
