Centreville students vote on new menu option

Centreville Junior High and High School students had the opportunity Wednesday to weigh in on a potential addition to their lunch menu.

A program called “Student Choice,” overseen by food vendor Chartwells, was introduced at lunchtime.

Marilyn Rosewarne, director of dining services, said students had the option to sample two types of cuisine: Asian-themed Bok Choy, featuring teriyaki chicken and/or chicken bulgogi, and Big City Barbeque, featuring a choice of diced chicken and/or pulled pork with four varieties of sauce from which to choose, along with cornbread.

More than 200 students had the opportunity to weigh in after trying samples. Rosewarne said the winning choice would likely start appearing on the junior/senior high lunch menu in late April.

She said “Student Choice” was offered at Mendon High School earlier this year and its students voted for the Bok Choy option.
