City commission approves censure motion

Three Rivers City Commission this week approved a motion to censure one of its members.

Tuesday’s vote condemns commissioner Lucas Allen, whose conduct during the commission’s March 7 meeting prompted the measure.

During this week’s meeting, Allen issued a statement, apologizing for his conduct, taking ownership of his outbursts and use of foul language March 7, and accepting the actions of his being censured.

Mayor Tom Lowry acknowledged Allen’s apology and thanked him. A few members of the public, however, called for Allen to resign and said his actions were an embarrassment to the city.

  1. While I do not condone what he did, I can say from sitting through way too many commission meetings that there were multiple times I would have loved to shout obscenities at Tom and Joe. Either you’re on their team or not. If not, then you serve no useful purpose.
