Gerald Martin, 68

Gerald Thomas Martin, age 68, of Howe, IN passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at his residence.  Mr. Martin was born on September 3, 1954 in South Bend to Gerald Francis and Beverly Mildred (Longacre) Martin.  He graduated from Penn High School in Mishawaka.  Gerald served his country honorably with the United States Marines.  He worked as a supervisor for 9 years at Kirsch Manufacturing.  He also was previously employed at Dodge Manufacturing for nearly 6 years.  Gerald retired from Therma-Tru after 4 years of dedicated service.  He was an outdoorsman, enjoyed mushroom hunting, and was an avid fisherman.  Gerald owned an extensive bicycle collection and as he would open his shed to his vast collection he’d proudly announce to his children, “One day this will all be yours.”  Gerald frequently partook in visiting antique auctions as well.  Gerald loved spending time with his family, children, and his grandchildren.

Mother, Beverly M. Martin of Mishawaka.

Son, Justin “Jake” and Elisabeth Martin of Oak Park, IL.

Son, Eric Mobley of Bronson.

Daughter, Taylor Martin and Aaron Mayer of Bronson.

Grandchildren, Lucy Martin, Sophia Martin, Anna Martin, Ellie Hicks, and Edwin Mayer.

Brother, Michael and Kathy Martin of South Bend.

Brother, Thomas Martin of Mishawaka.

Special friend and mother of his children, Gina Martin

Many nieces and nephews.

Gerald was preceded in death by his father and sister-in-law, Sue Martin.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 4 to 7pm at the Sturgis VFW, 264 West Fawn River Road, Sturgis.  There will be a military honors ceremony with the playing of Taps at 5:30.
