Man and vehicle pulled from river

A Three Rivers resident and his car were pulled from the St. Joseph River last week in Lockport Township.

Sheriff Mark Lillywhite said deputies were called at 7:21 p.m. Thursday to South River Road near Noah Lake Road in response to a vehicle submerged in the river.

Available members of the St. Joseph County Dive and Rescue Team responded to the scene. Team members were able to rescue a 30-year-old man.

Through their investigation, deputies said it appears the driver lost control, and his vehicle left the roadway and ended up in the river.

Authorities said the driver was not injured. No additional information about the incident was available in a department media release.
