Police warn of scam involving driveway re-sealing

Michigan State Police troopers wish to remind the public of an old scam that has returned to the area recently.

Investigators are following up on an incident that took place last month in Calhoun County’s Newton Township. A homeowner was approached by three men who offered to re-seal the homeowner’s driveway and exposed basement walls.

The suspects sprayed the drive with a black-colored liquid in a couple areas and then advised the resident they would finish after payment. The resident was offered a better discount if he paid in cash.

After receiving payment, the subjects left the area without completing any more work.

They are described as white and in their 30s. They arrived and left the location in two pickups, authorities said.
