Rally held to bring attention to case of missing woman

The case of a Sturgis-area woman missing since 2018 was at the center of a rally last weekend in Centreville.

More than 50 people gathered Saturday outside the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department to raise awareness to the plight of Brittany Wallace Shank. She was 23 when she disappeared in November 2018, last seen in Fawn River Township.

Sturgis resident Jackie Milliman was instrumental in organizing the hour-long event. Milliman said keeping the case in the public’s eye is critical and will hopefully lead to the break that has eluded investigators the past four-plus years.

Milliman was one of more than a half dozen people who spoke during the program. She said it’s critical to remind investigators to not forget about their obligation to solve the case.

Shank’s mother, Jessica Rolfe, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support. Rolfe acknowledged the attention her daughter’s case has received through season 3 of the podcast “Hide and Seek.”
