Shane Johnson, 47

Shane Drew Johnson, age 47, formerly of Three Rivers and Jones, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023 at his home in Vicksburg.

He was born October 5, 1975 in Blue Island, Ill., the son of Stephen and Sheila (Hansen) Johnson, and moved to Three Rivers at the age of 10. He graduated with the Class of 1994 from Three Rivers High School, where he actively participated in the wrestling and football programs.  He also enjoyed the game of golf and the Chicago Bears, often wearing their jersey proudly.

Shane worked with his dad, Stephen, and his brother, Eric, building parade floats in Chicago at an early age. His favorite parade was the St. Patrick’s Day parade. He attended Western Michigan University and was employed for many years at Lear Corporation and most recently Summit Polymers of Vicksburg.

Shane was an avid outdoorsman whose passions were hunting, fishing, and golf. His favorite place was to be on the water and using up every hour of sunlight with his son, Hunter, who also shared in his passion of fishing. He always could be heard saying that Hunter was the best piece of him. Shane also cherished time spent with his nieces, nephews and Hunter’s forever buddies teaching them about different aspects of lake life and its surroundings.  Shane was most at peace being outdoors and on the water sporting his signature cut off style T-shirts.

He was an amazing man who could take on any role.  He would lend a helping hand to anybody in need no matter the day or time. He loved fiercely and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Remaining to cherish Shane’s memory are his son, Hunter Johnson; parents, Stephen and Sheila Johnson; brother, Eric (Chelsea) Johnson and their children Austin, Brayden, and Gavin; brother, Ceth (Shannon) Johnson and their children Nevaeh, Anders, and Keir; sister, Stephanie Allen and her children, Serenity, Simone, Wilder, and Legend; significant other, Jackie Overweg.

He was preceded in death by his uncle, Ron Grotovsky; aunt, Patricia A. Cesarone; grandparents, Lois Marie Johnson, Bertrand D. Johnson, Evelyn Blanche Hansen, and Norman Hansen.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 at Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold St., Three Rivers. A Celebration of Life will follow from 4:00 to 5:00 at the funeral home.
