Shirley Ann Brimmer, age 87, of Sturgis, passed away Monday evening, March 20, 2023 at Divine Life Assisted Living Center in Lansing.
She was born June 14, 1935 in Birch Run, Michigan daughter of the late Walter and Florence (Hirsch) Dehmel.
Shirley resided most of her life in Sturgis.
On December 5, 1959 she married Elwyn Eugene Brimmer in Birch Run. He preceded her in death September 16, 1998.
Mrs. Brimmer retired from General Motors in Three Rivers following over 20 years of dedicated employment and had also worked at Grumman Olson in Sturgis.
She enjoyed crocheting, caring for her yard and gardening. Shirley loved time with her family especially her grandchildren playing board games and puzzles.
She is survived by her husband: James Wheeler of Potterville; daughter: Jean (Raymond) Taylor of Sturgis; son: Michael (Myra) Brimmer of Leonidas; grandchildren: Damain, Adam, Kristin, Shane, Travis, Logan, Myah, Braetan, Kate, Keith and Taryn; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced. Private interment of the remains will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
