An arraignment date for St. Joseph County Sheriff Mark Lillywhite is set for later this month.
Kalamazoo County officials said Lillywhite is expected to be arraigned April 24 on one misdemeanor count each of operating while intoxicated and carrying a concealed weapon while under the influence of alcohol.
The proceeding is to take place in Kalamazoo County District Court. The charges were authorized April 6 by the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office.
The impending court case stems from a Feb. 26 crash on U.S. 131 near West YZ Avenue, south of Schoolcraft. Authorities said the 47-year-old Lillywhite, a Flowerfield Township resident, was driving a vehicle that rear-ended another car.
