Liberty Bell award winner announced

St. Joseph County Bar Association has announced the recipient of its annual “Liberty Bell” award.

Kelly Hostetler will be recognized next week as the 2023 award winner.

Hostetler has been executive director of the St. Joseph County United Way since September 1998. She was involved in the merger of the Sturgis United Fund and the Three Rivers Community Chest to form the St. Joseph County United Way.

The Centreville-based agency funds more than 40 St. Joseph County-based groups and individuals.

The Liberty Bell Award was created in 1985 and is given to a non-lawyer, individual, or organization who has made an outstanding contribution to the community in a number of areas.

A presentation will take place at 9 a.m. Monday in Judge Paul Stutesman’s courtroom.
