Vicksburg held ceremonial groundbreaking on new building

Years of meticulous budgeting and vigilant planning finally bore fruit this week, as Village President Tim Frisbie and council members participated in a ceremonial groundbreaking for Vicksburg’s new municipal building.

Located on a parcel just north of the village water tower on North Richardson Street, the $2.5 million complex is expected to be open by February 2024.

A parade of local dignitaries showcased Monday’s groundbreaking and acknowledged the village’s tenacious budgeting, resulting in the project being paid with cash on hand.

Frisbie said the new municipal hall will be ADA-compliant, feature enough space to accommodate all facets of the village’s police department, large enough for staff to conduct day-to-day operations and – most importantly, he said – provide proper room to host village council and other village-related meetings.
