William Emil “Bill” Kleckner, age 72, of Mendon, died Monday, May 1, 2023 at his home. He was born in Kalamazoo on April 29, 1951, the son of Jacob and Beverly (Hodges) Schrier, and attended Comstock Schools. Bill was an independent truck driver for many years, and after retirement would drive for the Amish community. He loved his dogs, was an avid reader of novels, and enjoyed watching Westerns and history programs.
Bill is survived by a brother, Tim Schrier of Dundee, Florida; niece, Jennifer (Bill) Zuber; nephew, Brian (Cindy) Schrier; great-nephew, Alex Schrier; great-niece, Ariana Spoor; and his dog and constant companion, Willie. He was preceded in death by his birth parents; his adoptive parents, Karl and Olga Kleckner; sister-in-law, Nancy Schrier; and nephew, Michael Schrier.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been conducted. A family memorial celebration is being planned for later.
