A residential unit in Constantine was destroyed by fire earlier this week.
Constantine Fire Chief Mike Haydon said crews were dispatched shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of West Water Street.
Meanwhile, Michigan State Police troopers arrived on scene and found that all residents were safely outside the residence. First-arriving fire units found the structure fully consumed by flames.
Authorities said occupants of the residence indicated they woke up to find the top of the stove area on fire. Fire officials said the fire spread quickly throughout the structure.
One resident received minor burns attempting to put out the fire, and was treated and released at the scene.
Constantine and White Pigeon firefighters battled the blaze for about four hours, Haydon said. Firefighters were hampered by high winds and the roof on the structure collapsing.
