GOCC tuition increase approved for fall

Glen Oaks Community College Board of Trustees last week approved a 2.7 percent tuition increase, effective this fall.

Citing efforts to help offset inflation, the board approved the increase at its monthly meeting. School officials said general and technology fees will remain the same.

Starting in the fall, students will see a $3 increase per contact hour, bringing the new rates to $133 for in-district students from St. Joseph County and $164 for service-area residents, applicable to those from Cass County but living in Three Rivers, Constantine or White Pigeon School districts.

Based on a typical 12-contact-hour semester, the overall tuition increase will amount to $36, according to Jennifer Dodson, chief financial officer and controller.
