James Dale Wagner, age 75, of Mendon, died on April 22, 2023 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Battle Creek. He was born in Three Rivers on Oct. 4, 1947, the son of Owen O. and Kathryn R. (Van Over) Wagner and has been a lifetime resident of Mendon. He was a member of the Mendon High School class of 1965. Jim then served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Army in Viet Nam where he was the recipient of two Purple Heart medals and four bronze service stars. While considered 100% disabled, Jim continued to work at various places as a mason and plasterer, and volunteered extensively at the V.A. Hospitals.
Jim was married to Elsy Young on Dec. 18, 1970. She survives along with a son, J.J. Wagner, and a daughter, Monica Wagner; sister, Sheila. He was preceded in death by his parents, “Bum” and Kathryn Wagner; and his brother, Larry Wagner.
