Don Harker, 60

Donald Alan Harker, age 60, of Sturgis, passed away on June 10, 2023 at his home due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

He was born December 19, 1962 in Sturgis, son of the late Jack E. and Shirley Ruth (Gauss) Harker.

Don was a lifelong Sturgis resident and a graduate of Sturgis high School with the class of 1981.

With his parents and brother he owned and operated Harker Electric in Sturgis. He was currently employed by Vaupel Midwest Molding in Constantine, and had also worked at Nisco in Topeka, Indiana.

He was a member of Neuman-Wenzel Post #73 Sons of the American Legion and Eagles Lodge #1314.

Don had an appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his Harley, racing, mud bogs, and he was an exceptional gardener and was known to be able to grow anything.

He is survived by the love of his life: Linda Hicks and her children: Michael Singleton, Erin Singleton, Bethany Singleton and Brandon Singleton; sisters: Peggy (Duane) Graham of Three Rivers and Laurie (David E.) Wallace of Fresno, California; brother Kenneth (Terri Montoya) Harker of Sturgis; nieces and nephews: Shane (Lena) Graham, Lisa Graham, Rion Graham, Lisa (Robert) Maldonado, James Buehlman and Chris Gruver; great niece and nephews: Alexis Graham, Jack Graham, Tim Graham and Stone Maldonado; aunts and uncle: Laura Gang and Ethel Buhl both of Sturgis and Doris (Bob) Butts of Wolcottville, Indiana and Larry Harker of Sturgis.

In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate and honor the life of Donald Harker will take place Saturday, June 24th from 4:00 – ? at the Eagles Lodge in Sturgis.

The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
