Dorothea “Dottie” Bressler Haack, 81

Dorothea “Dottie” Bressler Haack, age 81, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday evening, June 10, 2023 at her home.

She was born November 22, 1941 in Sturgis, daughter of the late George and Maxine (Perry) Tefft.

Dot resided in Sturgis since 1976, coming from Coldwater. Her early life was spent in Bronson where she was a graduate of Bronson High School with the class of 1959.

On March 12, 2023 she married William Haack at the family home on Thompson Lake near Sturgis.

She was a legal secretary, bookkeeper, and business owner. She owned and operated Destination Travel, The Electric Shop and for over 40 years, and Bressler Adult Foster Care, all in Sturgis.

She enjoyed reading books, sewing, traveling, attending concerts, musicals, and Broadway plays. Dot traveled throughout the world to attend Cirque du Soleil performances and she had a true love for animals.

She is survived by her husband: William Haack; children: Todd (Cindy Conrod) Kilbourn, Tracey (Steven) Wohlers Penner, Shaun Haack and Jeff (Cindy) Haack all of Sturgis; granddaughters: Dr. Brooke (Tyler) Luce, DVM of West Bloomfield and Brielle Penner of Sturgis; sisters: Sharon Mynhier of Bronson and Dirinda Maddy of Daytona Beach, Florida; brother: Denny (Tammy) Brauker of Bronson; sister-in-law: Carol Cohane of Sunnyvale, California and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: George Tefft and Maxine Kime; grandson: Jesse Haack and nephew: Brent Mynhier.

In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 Thursday, June 15th at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd. in Sturgis. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced.

In honoring Dottie’s love of animals the family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial donation be directed to Hope for the Animals of St. Joseph County, 25420 Mintdale Road, Sturgis, MI 49091.
