Irene Pearl Hunter, age 84, of Sturgis, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Thurston Woods Village.
She was born February 23, 1939 in Curlew, Washington a daughter of the late Harry and Isabel Pearl (Denchel) Bjork.
Irene enjoyed playing cards “Skip Bo” and Bingo with friends, crocheting, word search puzzles, cooking, and watching soaps and game shows.
Surviving are five daughters: Syonja Gustafson of St. George, Utah; Suzanne Gustafson of Schoolcraft, Teresa Fisher of Sturgis, Monica Chapman of Sturgis, and Bobbi Jo Pferrer of Sturgis; grandchildren: Jennifer Schultz, Jessica Gonzales, Julya Wood, Cory Yoder, Christopher Williams, Cary Williams, Sloan Fisher, Stephanie Fisher, Taylor Fisher, Nicole Combs, Kate Bower, Kimberly Chapman, Michael Cox and Desi Rae Cox; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister: Dorothy “Dot” Heidaman; one brother: Harry Bjork Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Ivan Hunter, children: Doug Gustafson, Brian Hunter, and LaDonna Peterson; grandchildren: Christopher Allen Franks and Steven Cox Jr.
According to her wishes cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends celebrating the life of Irene Pearl Hunter will be held from 12 Noon – 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the Fawn River Apartments community/cafeteria room, 1301 Cato Lane, Sturgis, MI 49091.
