Jaime Jesus Nieves Avila passed away on Friday, June 2nd, 2023, after a long 4-and-a-half-year battle with lung cancer. He was 62.
Jaime, fondly known as Nieves de Limón, was born on April 15th, 1961 in Zinapecuaro, Michoacan. He had an enormous love for his family and country. In 1983, at the age of 22, Jaime married the love of his life, Maria Elena. Starting a family, Jaime realized he wanted a brighter future for his children, and together, Jaime and Elena worked for years and brought their family to the United States, settling in Sturgis.
Jaime cherished spending time with his family, including playing pool, listening to music, and enjoying special moments with his wife, children, and grandchildren. During the holiday season, Jaime always looked forward to vacations in Mexico, surrounded by family and friends.
Jaime is survived by his wife Maria Elena and his six children and in-laws, Jesus (Maria), Abraham (Mariela), Violeta (William), David (Alondra), Geovanny, and Emmanuel. He had 10 grandchildren: Jocelyn, Daniela, Vanessa, Ricardo, Mirsah Victoria, Paulina, Olivia, Adaleni, Isaac, and Areli.
Visitation will be at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 402 S Nottawa St, Sturgis, on Thursday, June 8th, from 3 to 7pm and a rosary prayer will begin at 7pm. A Catholic mass will honor our father on Friday, June 9th at 10am. Interment and graveside services will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery. The family welcomes friends and relatives to honor him during these services.
