Kathy Blood, 80

Kathleen Blood, age 80, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday evening, June 10, 2023 at her home.

She was born March 10, 1943 in Portland, Maine daughter of the late Raymond A. “Ray” and Katherine F. “Kay” (Chase) Roussey.

Kathy resided in Sturgis since 1980, coming from Bronson where she lived from 1956-1980 and the family lived in Fort Worth, Texas from 1946-1956.

On July 18, 1980 she married Harlan Blood at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bronson by Father Palmer.

She worked for her father in the office of Ray Roussey Construction Company in Bronson for several years. She had also been employed by Putman Manufacturing in Bronson, and Coachman Industries in Middlebury.

Kathy was an active member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis where she was a member of H.A.C.C.W. and served as a Lector and Eucharistic Minister.

She was a member of the Sturgis Lions Club and enjoyed Sudoku, traveling and reading.

She is survived by her husband: Harlan; five daughters: Robin (Tom) Herrmann of West Bloomfield, Christine (Eric) Saitz of Berrien Springs, Jeanine (Dean) Corson of Sellersburg, Indiana, Indiana, Mary (Christopher) Harris of Burr Oak and Holly (Jeffery) Woods of New Haven, Indiana; two sons: Allen Luce of Bronson and Mark Luce of Burr Oak; grandchildren: Savannah (John) DeGraaf, Colin and Ryan Herrmann, Jonathan Luce, Brittany (Gary) Smith, Dakota Luce, Meagan (Sean) Heil, Gabrielle (Jordan) Dantzer, Tyler (Brooke) Luce, Nicole Szoko, Katherine Miller, Cassie Corson, Taylor (Craig) Traphagen, Dalton Harris, Glen (Candace) Smith, Tanisha (Austin) Hanks, Mikayla (Lukas) Dunfee, Hannah (Skylar Russell) Smith, Chelsea (Stephen) LaVelle and Justin Woods; great grandchildren: Vivian, Noah, Thomas, Todd, Tessa, Silas, Corinn, Camren, Jaxson, Dayton, Glen IV, Benjamin, Ivy, Thomas, Lily, Joseph, Quinn and Charlotte; two sisters: Linda (Richard) Raker and Coleen (David Smoker) Roussey both of Coldwater; two brothers: Patrick (Sally) Roussey of Coldwater and Anthony (Carolyn) Roussey of Byron Center and many niece and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister: Annette Roussey; brother: Michael Roussey; grandson: Jeffery Woods and great grandson: Steven LaVelle.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00, Wednesday, June 14th at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd. in Sturgis where the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary will be prayed at 7:00. The Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Kathleen Blood will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis. Fathers Andrew Raczkowski, Raul Gomez and Evelio Ramirez celebrants. A graveside committal will follow the Mass at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
