Margaret Strawser, 88

Margaret E. Strawser, age 88, of Constantine, died on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Niles Lakeland Hospital. She was born October 5, 1934 in Lakeview, MI, a daughter of Jiles and Eva (Space) Silver. Margaret graduated from Edmore High School and attended Central Michigan University. On July 10, 1971 she married Gordon Strawser. He preceded her in death August 1, 1990.

Margaret had careers in two things she was passionate about – food and real estate.  She worked as a manager at Howard Johnson’s and A&W restaurants in Grand Rapids. She then worked at and later purchased Dairy Freeze in Grand Rapids. Margaret later became a real estate agent for Century 21 in Detroit and Allen Reality in White Pigeon. She later worked as a cook for Essenhaus and Big Boy.  She also enjoyed purchasing, improving, and renting properties around the area.

Margaret was a 40 year member of the Bible Baptist Church of Constantine and enjoyed gardening, cooking, home improvement and crafting. Her mashed potatoes and banana bread were family favorites.

Surviving are her son Brian (Karyn) Strawser, Buchanan,  daughter Carla (Damon) Rosenthal, Macomb,  grandchildren Jessica (Aaron) Heminger, Michael (Na`shanta) Fletcher, Ryan Strawser, Troy Strawser, Anya Rosenthal and Peyton Rosenthal, great grandson Oliver Fletcher and sister Evahlena Sauer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings Emmajean Modene, Nelson Silver, Mary Arntz, Jiles Silver, Jonathan Silver, Ruth Hooker and David Silver.

Relatives and friends will be received Friday, June 23, from 10 am to 12 pm at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine. Religious services will follow at 12:00 with Pastor Paul Pierucki, Bible Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the White Pigeon Township Cemetery.
