U.S. Senator Gary Peters said the Postal Service Reform Act – which Peters helped champion – will save the agency nearly $50 billion and put it on stable footing.
Peters said the act was signed into law in 2022 and marks the agency’s first reforms in more than 15 years.
The measure requires the Postal Service to deliver mail six days a week. In addition, Peters said he helped secure funding for the Postal Service to purchase a fleet of new, electric delivery vehicles made by Ford and members of the United Auto Workers union.
In addition, Peters said the Postal Service recently launched a new website where data about mail delivery times in communities across the country can be viewed through a performance dashboard.
