Sheriff’s department hopes public can help in case of missing woman

St. Joseph County Undersheriff Jason Bingaman said the agency is appealing to the public in hopes of securing information related to the whereabouts of a 73-year-old woman.

Bingaman said sheriff’s deputies, its mounted patrol and reserves, representatives from local fire departments, volunteers, Southern Michigan K9 Search and Response, Michigan State Police aviation division and Great Lakes Drone Company all joined forces Monday and Tuesday in hopes of finding any trace of Marilee Furlong.

She was last seen shortly before 9 a.m. Monday around Flatbush Road in Flowerfield Township.

Bingaman said canines were tracking from Furlong’s last known location west into Cass County, south of Marcellus. St. Joseph County officials are working with Cass County detectives to canvas the vicinity.

Anyone with trail cameras that might have possible footage of Furlong is asked to contact the St Joseph County Central Dispatch Center.
