Christopher Jacobs, construction engineer whose work includes the current U.S. 131 project in St. Joseph and Kalamazoo counties, has provided a summary of the ongoing undertaking.
He said work completed includes: storm sewer installation from M-216 to Johnson Road; guardrail removal to north of Michigan Avenue; and ditching to Heimbach Road
Meanwhile, the two-week outlook includes: storm sewer continuing north; continuation of guardrail removal and median ditching; and further work related to curbs and gutters.
The two-year, $51 million project covers 13.4 miles of U.S. 131 from the Rocky River bridge in St. Joseph County to Shaver Road in Kalamazoo County.
