Jean Ann Freimund, age 81, of Union, Michigan, died on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at her home. She was born July 21, 1942 in Calvin Township, MI a daughter of James and Winifred (Kantz) Goode. Jean attended Edwardsburg schools. On September 20, 1979 she married Lee Zemanek, he preceded her in death in January 1986. On August 15, 1987 she married Charles Freimund in Elkhart. He preceded her in death August 24, 2021.
Jean was a member of Chapel Hill Missionary Church in Union. She loved Jesus and shared her beliefs with everyone she knew. Jean was employed as a clerk for the US Post office in Niles and Elkhart, retiring in 1999 after 26 years of service.
Surviving are her children Jeanna Ewing, Union, Denise (Mark) VerHage, Gobles; stepchildren Shelley (John) DuBois, Parkside, PA, Kris (Jeff) Blair, Oakwood, OH, Kevin (Carri) Zemanek, MN, Karen Zemanek, Portage; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Lois (Sumer) Bileydi, Virginia Sharp; brother Tom (Peggy) Goode; brother-in-law Dick Schlimgen; and several nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; grandson Gavin Ewing; sister Marilyn Schlimgen and brother-in-law and Gerald Sharp.
Relatives and friends will be received Tuesday from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Chapel Missionary Church, 14525 Chapel Hill St, Jones, MI, 49061. Religious services will follow at 12:00 with Pastor Jeff Snider officiating. Burial will be in Plum Grove Cemetery, Union, MI. Memorial contributions may be directed to Chapel Hill Missionary Church.
