Michigan Department of Transportation construction engineer Christopher Jacobs has provided a weekly update on the U.S. 131 project.
A major task was completed with the installation of storm sewer infrastructure from the Rocky River bridge to just north of XY Avenue. Also, additional crossovers were completed, curb work is moving along and ditching has continued north to YZ Avenue.
Jacobs said the two-week outlook includes continuing north with median ditching; storm sewer groundwork is continuing in gapped intersections; and paving culvert patches and a profile mill north of Michigan Avenue are all on tap.
The two-year, $51 million project covers 13.4 miles of U.S. 131 from the Rocky River bridge in St. Joseph County to Shaver Road in Kalamazoo County.
