Lately, I’ve noticed more and more people with “Jimmy Legs”. The first time I heard of “Jimmy Legs” was on the Seinfeld television show. Evidently, it involves the uncontrollable twitching of the legs. I’ve noticed it while in a restaurant or other venue where people are sitting down. Usually, one leg is in motion as if keeping time with music. Sometimes, both legs are in motion. It seems the person is nervous about something. I’m also thinking the person has no idea there legs are moving. I’d be interested in knowing if anyone else has noticed this and if they might be as curious as I am about the cause of “Jimmy Legs”. I’ve tried Googling this and was referred to a couple of episodes of Seinfeld that featured it.
For the past several years, I’ve been trying to shed a few pounds. I’ve tried a couple of diets, but have lost interest, and am not that interested in doing exercises, or working out. This all makes me weary. My biggest problem is that I enjoy eating. I’ve cut back on the amount of food I eat and because I’m aging, my appetite isn’t what it used to be. Here are some foods you can eat without gaining weight:
Vegetables including celery, lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, spinach, and kale. These all make up a great salad, but lose their weight-loss effect if you use the wrong dressing.
Mushrooms. They are great raw, but lose their effect if placed on a large pizza.
Berries like strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries. These are also tasty, but more tasty if blended with ice cream. Again, the weight-loss effect is taken away with the ice cream.
Grapefruit is okay as long as you don’t add sugar. Grapefruit juice is good, but there are some medications that shouldn’t be taken with it.
Centreville Covered Bridge Days happens this next weekend. This is definitely the month of festivals. Last week we celebrated White Pigeon Days and the Fourth of July. There was a huge turnout for the White Pigeon Days parade last Friday evening. I had the honor of helping man the stern cannon onboard the S.S. Richmond. Thank you White Pigeon for your enthusiasm. Saturday evening, July 15, the S.S. Richmond will be in the Centreville parade, so everyone is invited to travel over to the St. Joe County seat and enjoy another fantastic and entertaining parade. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate one more time.
July is almost half over, so its time to mark your August calendar for Saturday, August 5. The Animal Rescue Fund (ARF) will hold their Annual Doggy Wash this day from 9 AM until 3 PM at Family Farm & Home, located on Broadway Avenue, just west of US-131, across from Meijer. The Doggy Wash includes the usual shampoo and nail trim. All of this for your donation to ARF. This is a very popular event, so you’ll want to bring your canine fur-baby early to secure a spot in the wash. ARF is a volunteer group that helps benefit the dogs and cats in St. Joe County. It’s a time you can support ARF and return some of the unconditional love your pet gives you.
See you Out and About!
