The treasurer of Vicksburg Rocket Football has been charged with embezzling more than $30,000 from the youth program.
FOX News 17 said Ashley Schippers was arraigned Monday on one count of embezzlement.
The news channel reported the Vicksburg Rocket Football director indicated to police that the program’s treasurer had embezzled money from the program.
When confronted by the board, Schippers admitted to taking some of the money, but not all.
When the director looked at bank statements from the four years Schippers served as treasurer, they found the amount of missing money had doubled.
Court documents state Schippers admitted to taking the money and using it to pay her personal bills. In total, Schippers is accused of allegedly embezzling nearly $33,300.
Schippers is scheduled to be back in court for a probable cause conference Thursday.
