Additional VA benefits for toxic-exposed veterans

U.S. Sen. Gary Peters is encouraging former members of the military to consider signing up for VA benefits to toxic-exposed veterans.

The benefits are the result of the PACT Act, signed into law in 2022. Peters said there is no deadline to apply but his public appeal is being made in hopes of bringing awareness to the potential benefits.

PACT added 23 health conditions related to burn pits and toxic exposure to the VA’s list of service presumptions. The law also expands the list of locations recognized as being related to Agent Orange exposure from service to include Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Guam, American Samoa and Johnston Atoll.

More information is available from Peters on his website: peters.senate.gov.
