Beverly June Ritter, age 77, of Sturgis, passed away Friday morning, August 11, 2023 at her home following a long hard fought battle with cancer.
She was born February 9, 1946 in Bad Axe, Michigan, daughter of the late Ernest and Gertrude (Vance) Campbell.
Bev resided in Sturgis since 1978 coming from Coldwater. Her early life was spent in Bad Axe where she was a graduate of Bad Axe High School with the class of 1964. She furthered her education at Bethel College in South Bend.
On August 5, 1978 she married Sheldon Ritter at the Coldwater Wesleyan Church.
All of Bev’s working life was as a hairdresser. She had worked at various shops around Sturgis and for many years owned and operated New Image Hair Designs in Sturgis.
She was an active member of the Radiant Life Church in Sturgis where she enjoyed Bible studies and was always willing to lend a hand if needed. Bev enjoyed shopping. Her true passion in life was helping others.
She is survived by her husband: Sheldon; son: Joshua (Kathryn) Ritter of South Lyon; daughter: Ivy (Jerry) Starr of Fort Wayne; step-daughter: Leann Ritter of Constantine; grandchildren: Makenna, Haley, Victoria, Scarlet and Maxx; great grandchildren: Ryker and Grant; sisters: Hilda VanAllen of Virginia, Elizabeth (Bill) Lingenfelter of Florida, Edith Schott of Indiana and Delores (Harry) Kurtz of Florida; brother: Graydon (Judy) Campbell of Michigan and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother: Louis Campbell.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Radiant Life Church in Sturgis at a later date to be announced.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
