Carol V. Bowers, age 95, of Sturgis, passed away Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023 at Thurston Woods Village.
She was born April 26, 1928 in Angola, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Zena (Fisher) Rathburn.
She was first married to Robert U. Ball, who preceded her in death, and then to John Bowers, who also preceded her in death.
Carol was a homemaker and enjoyed square dancing, roller skating, cooking, canning, and garage sales.
Surviving are one son: Wayne Ball of Sturgis; one daughter: Ann Cummings of Coldwater; 3 grandchildren: Aaron and Zena Cummings and Lisa Mathis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one daughter: Brenda Mathis, 5 brothers: Lyle, Vere, Versal, Harold, and Marian.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Graveside service celebrating the life of Carol V. Bowers will be held at 1:00 on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023 at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial donations in her memory may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or St. Joseph County Veterans, 612 E. Main St., Centreville, MI 49032. Envelopes are available at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis who have been entrusted with the arrangements.
