Gerald Boswell, 87

Gerald Hampton Boswell, age 87, of Sturgis, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 1, 2023 at his home following a short, but hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born February 14, 1936 in Banks, Alabama son of the late Waco Hobson and Bama Corrine (Hickman) Boswell.

Mr. Boswell was a longtime resident of Sturgis. On November 9, 1960 he married Linda Jean Miller in Valentine, Indiana.

Gerald retired from the U.S. Air Force following 22 years of faithful service to his country. At the time of his retirement he held the rank Master Sergeant.

He was a member of the Outreach Baptist Church in Panama City Beach, Florida and enjoyed watching the deer in his backyard and loved spending time with his family.

Mr. Boswell is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of nearly 63 years: Linda; his children: Shelly (Dan) Conley of Panama City Beach, Florida, Jody (Roy) Stubbs of Sturgis, Michael (Tena) Boswell of Pierceton, Indiana and Tracey (Craig) Cole of Three Rivers; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; brother: Larry (Betty Ann) Boswell of Smith Stations, Alabama and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Mary Ellen Hughes and three brothers: Edwin, Daniel and Andrew Waco Boswell.

In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service and entombment will take place Friday, August 11th at 3:00 at the Sturgis Memorial Gardens Columbarium. The Rev. Paul; Delmark will officiate. Full military honors will be conferred by Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.
