Karen J. Schrock, age 79, of Mamaroneck, NY, formerly of Three Rivers, died on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, CT. She was born September 20, 1943 in Constantine, a daughter of Laverne and Naomi (Powers) Johnson. Karen graduated from Bristol High School. In 1961 she married William E. Schrock in Constantine and moved to Orange, California where their only son, Ray, came into their lives. Although they were later divorced, they shared a strong bond with their son throughout their lives.
Shortly after moving to California with her husband and sister, Dolores, Karen worked in various jobs in southern California, including with AMF-Voit in Orange, California, for several years.
Upon returning to Michigan, Karen worked in retail sales and various factory work during her career, and she was a proud and active member and past president of The Fraternal Order of Eagles. During this time, she enjoyed friends, time with her family, and was a relatively accomplished softball player (pitcher), bowler, marksman, and overall was an extremely good athlete throughout her child and adult-life.
More recently, Karen moved to Mamaroneck, New York, about 10 years ago to be closer to Ray, who is a lawyer based in New York City, and her daughter-in-law, Anne, and grandchildren, Grace and Matt.
Always quick with a contagious laugh and friendly disposition, Karen was a bright spot and welcome addition to any table or conversation. It’s fair to say that the pride and focus of Karen throughout her life was raising her son, Ray, and she did a great job. She had a certain wisdom about her that always seemed to know when to push, when leave things be, how to encourage, but not criticize, and yet hold those she loved accountable. Karen had many friends throughout her life, and was always there in their time of need. She lived a very full life and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Ray C. and Anne E. Schrock, Rye, NY; grandchildren, Elizabeth Grace Schrock and Matthew Addison Schrock, Rye, NY; nephews, Thomas Stock, Portage, and William Stock; great nephews, Ben Stock and William Stock; great niece Emily Stock; nieces, Susan Marten and Jodie McCarty; and cousins, Christian Powers and Kerri Powers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her sisters, Dolores Stock and Shirley Kramb, and nephew, Ben Stock.
