Ruth Kilbourn, 88

Ruth M. Kilbourn, age 88, of Leonidas, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Birches AFC in Leonidas.

Ruth was born on May 26, 1935, in Coldwater, a daughter to the late Edward and Beatrice (Paradine) Full. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School where she was a member of the band and the acapella choir. Ruth lived her adult life as a Battle Creek resident and enjoyed her retirement in Columbia, Tennessee for 11 years eventually moving back to Leonidas.

Ruth married Daniel Kilbourn Sr. in Battle Creek in 1956. He preceded her in death. Ruth worked for more than 25 years at the Kellogg Company in Battle Creek where she eventually retired from. Throughout her life Ruth enjoyed bowling, reading and especially gardening. She was also a member of the 25-year club at Kellogg’s.

Surviving Ruth are her sons: Daniel (Marcia) Kilbourn of Leonidas, and David (Vicky) Kilbourn of Marshall, daughter in law: Susan Kilbourn of Battle Creek, 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Besides her parents Edward and Beatrice Full, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Daniel Kilbourn Sr., son Donald Kilbourn, daughter Delores Kilbourn, brother Robert Full, sister Reva Bailey, and granddaughter Elizabeth Renee Kilbourn.

The Kilbourn family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, September 1, 2023, at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating the life of Ruth will take place following the visitation at 1:00. Cremation will take place following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers the family encourages memorial donations to be made to either the Wounded Warrior Foundation, or the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
