Here’s an update on work being done on U.S. 131 in St. Joseph and Kalamazoo counties, according to Michigan Department of Transportation’s Christopher Jacobs.
Recently finished work includes storm sewer northbound from the Rocky River to Michigan Avenue, and median restoration and permanent signs in the median. Meanwhile, northbound traffic is being maintained in the median lane.
Jacobs said curbing at Michigan Avenue was to have started Friday.
Michigan Avenue paving and paving of the northbound shoulder from Rocky River to Heimbach Road is expected to start Tuesday, while installation of wedges at drives and intersections begins today.
A date to be determined later centers on paving beginning in the northbound lane from Heimbach Road to M-216.
Looking ahead, southbound traffic is expected to switch to the median lane at some point today. Meanwhile, Lovers Lane will be closed through Tuesday for milling and paving.
The two-year, $51 million project covers 13.4 miles of U.S. 131 from the Rocky River bridge in St. Joseph County to Shaver Road in Kalamazoo County.
