A 40-year-old Cass County man was arrested on charges related to animal cruelty, according to sheriff’s department officials.
Robert Archer II faces five misdemeanor charges of animal cruelty following his arrest over the summer at his residence in Howard Township.
Investigators were called in June to Archer’s residence, in the 2000 block of Lilac Avenue, after a neighbor reported her concern about the welfare of the animals on Archer’s property. Animal control officers found 107 animals, including dogs, goats, chickens and ducks on the premises.
Deputies eventually confirmed the incident was the fourth in which Archer has been charged with animal cruelty. He had been ordered by Cass County Circuit Court to not own more than five dogs and two dozen chickens, county officials said.
