Sturgis Police this week arrested a motorist driving a stolen vehicle.
Officers said they noticed a 2006 GMC Sierra that had been reported stolen earlier in the week. It was spotted Wednesday evening in the 1200 block of East Chicago Road.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver fled the area and nearly struck several people in the process, authorities said. The pickup driven by the suspect later struck a vehicle and a building before crashing into a tree in the 600 block of Parkside Drive, near Sturgis Hospital.
The driver, whose identity, gender and community of residence was not released by police, was arrested on multiple charges and was also wanted on several outstanding warrants. The driver received medical care before being turned over to authorities.
