George Paul Yung, age 80, of Three Rivers, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Optalis Health & Rehabilitation.
He was born June 11, 1943 in Columbus, Georgia, the son of George Peter and Phyllis Louise (Hutchinson) Yung. George was a graduate of RVRHS in 1962.
George served his country in the United States Navy, then worked for 26 years at the Eastampton Police Department, rising to the rank of sergeant.
On September 25th of 1965, he married Virginia Rodney.
After retirement he enjoyed serving his community through the local American Legion and VFW, collecting coins, traveling, and spending time with his family.
George was a dedicated family man, an amazing storyteller, and as kindhearted as one could be.
Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Virginia Yung; his girls, Mary V. Yung of Constantine, Shirley E. (David) Chamberlain of Three Rivers, and Dorothy J. (Daniel) Ledden of Constantine; grandchildren, Michael Yung, Molly Yung, Paul Chamberlain, Catie Chamberlain, Emma Chamberlain, Gavin Armstrong, David Ledden, Michael Curiel, and Bella Curiel; great-grandchildren, Riley Evans and Trevor Yung.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In accordance with family wishes, cremation has been conducted. A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Hice-Shutes American Legion Post #170.
