Sheriff’s department announces addition of chaplain

Undersheriff Jason Bingaman has announced the addition of Larry Humphreys as chaplain to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department.

After training for the position, Humphreys has volunteered his time to work with the public during any crisis that may arise, as well as assisting deputies during traumatic events. Bingaman said Humphreys is an asset to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office.

Aside from his role with the sheriff’s department, Humphreys also volunteers as Centreville Fire Department Chaplain.

He was presented his “Chaplain” badge by Bingaman during a ceremony Aug. 31.

  1. How much does it cost taxpayers for a chaplain? There are ministers galore available to anyone in need! Takes just a phone call.
