Here’s an update on work being done on U.S. 131 in St. Joseph and Kalamazoo counties, according to Michigan Department of Transportation’s Christopher Jacobs.
Storm sewer Stage 1, northbound from the Rocky River to Michigan Avenue is complete to the point of leveling. Also, restoration has been completed in the highway’s median and permanent signs have been erected in the median.
Northbound traffic is being maintained in the median lane.
Jacobs said ongoing tasks include repaving driveway aprons, which will be done immediately after a traffic shift is complete. Meanwhile, the east leg of YZ Avenue remains closed with detour.
The two-year, $51 million project covers 13.4 miles of U.S. 131 from the Rocky River bridge in St. Joseph County to Shaver Road in Kalamazoo County.
