Water-main installation closes portion of Shaver Road

A water-main installation has closed Shaver Road half a year earlier than anticipated.

MLive is reporting that Shaver Road will be inaccessible for two months, as the closure started Monday to install a water main.

The project is the second part of a multi-year, $3.8 million project to upgrade Shaver Road. The instillation was originally expected to take place between March and June next year. All of the materials, however, were available to begin the installation instead of next year, city officials said.

Traffic in the northbound lane of Shaver Road from Oakland Drive to Vanderbilt Avenue will be detoured north on Oakland Drive, east on Vanderbilt Avenue and north on Shaver Road.

Construction is expected to finish Nov. 15, depending on weather and materials.
