William Earl “Bill” Harroun, age 68, of Mendon, died Sunday, October 22, 2023 at his home. He was born in Sturgis on November 26, 1954 and was the adopted son of Leonard and Kathleen “Katie” (Bower) Harroun.
He attended Mendon Schools, and later enlisted in the U.S. Army. Bill assisted his father as Sexton of Mendon Cemeteries for a short time and later was employed as an independent contractor and heavy equipment operator. In his spare time, he enjoyed refurbishing and refinishing furniture. He also enjoyed fishing, snow-skiing, and western movies. He was a supporter of Toys-For-Tots and the annual Sturgis Toy Run. He especially loved being a grandpa and spending time with his family.
Bill was married to Phyllis Ahrens on August 24, 1984 in Nottawa. She survives along with three children, Kelly (Johnathon) Harroun-Ellard, Whitney Harroun, and William C. Harroun all of Three Rivers; five grandchildren, Alexis Walter, Shelby Harroun, Kelsey Harroun, Patrick Harroun, and Constance Harroun; sister, Shirley Ferguson and nephew, William Ferguson both of Battle Creek; and his birth mother, Peggy Glover and her family. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William Lilly; and sister, Pam.
