Dorothy Jennings, 91

Dorothy M. Jennings, age 91, of Constantine, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at LakeHouse Three Rivers Assisted Living. Born in Constantine on May 9, 1932, she was the daughter of Merritt and Cleo (Avery) Hassinger. Dorothy graduated from Constantine High School in 1950.

On April 7, 1951 she married Bernard “Bud” Jennings at Messiah Lutheran Church in Constantine. He preceded her in death on January 24, 2023.

Dorothy and Bud owned and operated Eagle Motors in White Pigeon and Fancy Threads Embroidery. She was a member of Meeks Mill Garden Club for more than 40 years. She served as President in 1995, was on many committees, and was a blue ribbon flower show winner. Dorothy was a valued member who helped in any way possible. Dorothy loved her family, nature, friends, and garden club.

Surviving are her sons Steven (Denise) Jennings, Tom Jennings, and Shane (Laurie Longcore) Jennings, all of Constantine; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother Roscoe Hassinger; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Karl Jennings, daughter Kay Hammon, brother John Hassinger, sister Norma (Olney) Moord, and sister-in-law Dorothy Hassinger.

According to her wishes cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends will be received Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023 from 1 to 3PM at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine, where Memorial Services will follow at 3PM. Officiating will be Pastor Kathy Schuen of First Congregational Church – United Church of Christ in Constantine. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Meeks Mill Garden Club.
